Feldscheunen stehen an besonderen Orten in der Landschaft, oft dort, wo sich das Land weit öffnet und die Sicht frei ist. Sie erzählen von vergangenen Zeiten, als Basel-Land und Solothurn noch reine Agrarkantone waren und das Leben eng mit dem Rhythmus der Felder verbunden war. Die meisten dieser Scheunen entstanden im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert. Sie zeugen von einer Epoche, in der die Bauern im Dorf kaum Platz hatten, um Stroh zu lagern oder das Jungvieh unterzubringen. Noch heute stehen die Feldscheuen als stille Zeugen einer früheren Wirtschaftsweise. Sie werden nicht mehr gebraucht und sind dem Zerfall preisgegeben.

Field barns stand in special places in the landscape, often where the land opens up and the view is unobstructed. They tell of bygone times when the surroundings of Basel were purely agricultural areas and life was closely intertwined with the rhythm of the fields. Most of these barns were built in the 18th and 19th centuries. They bear witness to an era when farmers in the villages had little space to store straw or house their young cattle. Even today, the field barns stand as silent witnesses to a bygone way of life. They are no longer needed and are left to decay.
